IFBB Physique America is the only United States affiliate to the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB) on the Amateur level and to IFBB Elite Pro on the Professional level and is under their Rules, Regulations and Constitution. IFBB Physique America has no affiliation or association with any other Bodybuilding/Physique organization.

The IFBB was founded in 1946 by Joe and Ben Weider. It is now 202 nations strong making it the 4th largest Sports Federation in the world. In 1969, the IFBB became a member of the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF). The IFBB is also affiliated with the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee, the World Games (IWGA), the International Council of Coach Education (ICCE), the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Association of Pan American Sport Federations (PASO).

The IFBB is also recognized by over 100 National Olympic Committees and was included as a medalist
sport in the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru.
